Commissioned by Rich Atwell for his son, Blake

Rich is the owner of the Jimi Hendrix Voo Doo Child Strat I carved in 2000. He contacted me again in 2012 asking if I would make a similar piece commemorating Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Of course I loved the idea. Rich's son, Blake, already owned the Fender SRV model Strat. He sent it to me and I tried to make the SRV as similar as I could to the Jimi piece. I added a couple of Texas references. An armadillo and a flower encrusted Texas Ranger's badge. It ended up with a down and dirty Texas blues feel I think Stevie would have loved.
