Commissioned
by Ron Terborg of Larkspur,Colorado
This was a fun piece and uniquely beautiful. Ron and I worked out the elements of design together. He knew pretty much what he wanted. He wanted an Indinan Brave, arm extended, sporting an eagle feather shawl. He wanted a ferocious bear to represent the bear dance. He wanted a spirit turtle (which ended up on the peghead). Then he said he liked my "ribbon work". Ron said add as much ribbon as I wanted. So there's ribbon and feathers all over this bad injun.
Ron had special antler tone and volume knobs made by Jeff Two Hawks Weinstein (no... really) adding a nice further Native American touch. The lower horn pickguard was cut away to allow for more ribbon carving. Golden Oak Stain, Nitro Lacquer finish, completed 8/28/06 .
