Wilfried contacted me on-line to see about having a guitar built with a "Marlin" design. He said he'd never seen a marlin but adopted it as his personal symbol. We started tossing around ideas and came up with this. Then he said he wanted to have my portrait on the pickguard. Flattered but reluctant, I suggested King Neptune might be more appropriate. Wilfried said, "Yes. King Neptune with your face." SO we compromised. That's me on his majesty's bod. After he got it back to Germany, Wilfried had a brass pickguard plate made from the original plastic one.
The peghead design was Wilfried's too. It's a Strat style with a rosewood board from Warmoth. Left handed so the scroll could be used as an ocean wave and a marlin dorsel fin peeking out the top.
